An acoustic guitar played by Noel Gallagher during Oasis's 1996 MTV Unplugged concert, and subsequently signed by the artist, has set a new world record by selling at auction for £226,800. Propstore confirmed this as the highest price ever achieved for an Oasis acoustic guitar.
Further highlighting the event's success, a Yamaha C3 Grand Piano, used by Freddie Mercury to compose his hit song 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love,' was sold for £81,900. This piano had an expected sale price of at least £200,000.
On the auction's opening day, a significant item from Freddie Mercury was the top seller. A notebook featuring handwritten lyrics and notes from the 'Mr. Bad Guy' recording sessions achieved an impressive £277,200. Music specialist Mark Hochman noted that these strong results demonstrate collectors' high regard for items possessing a personal connection to artists and their music.
