The upcoming New York Film Festival will host the world premiere of Tala Hadid's "Bardi" within its Currents section. This cinematic work focuses on the Tbourida, a historical equestrian military ritual originating from central Morocco and dating back to the 16th century.
The festival, scheduled to run from September 25 through October 12, promises a diverse lineup. Film at Lincoln Center announced that the Currents section alone will present 15 feature films, including five world premieres and one restoration world premiere, alongside 28 short films.
Dennis Lim, the festival's artistic director, highlighted that the Currents lineup challenges conventional filmmaking, featuring a wide array of production methods and film languages. This year's selection embraces visions ranging from the intimately personal to the cosmically grand, emphasizing the dynamic and ever-evolving landscape of cinema.
