This led to Perry and the Catholic Church being awarded nearly $10 million in damages in 2017, as the sisters lacked the necessary consent from church authorities for a sale exceeding $7.5 million.
The proceedings related to the judgment have been suspended due to Sister Catherine Rose's passing. Archbishop Jose Gomez expressed gratitude for her years of service. In what may have been her final interview, Sister Catherine Rose had directly pleaded with Katy Perry to cease her actions, stating they were causing harm.
