Norwich Theatre Bar to Double in Size Amid Noise Fears

Norwich City councillors recently approved a major refurbishment for the Norwich Theatre Playhouse, a venue that has hosted notable actors since its 1995 opening. The approved plans include a significant expansion of the existing bar area, which will be converted into a two-storey building. Further refurbishments are planned for the theatre's front and back of house sections, aiming to update the well-loved cultural space.

This development faced opposition from local residents who expressed concerns about potential "disruptive noise" resulting from the expansion. Additionally, the Broads Authority raised objections regarding proposed digital signage on the building's exterior. The council indicated that matters of noise and signage would be addressed through the subsequent licensing process.
