The Northampton Film Festival (NFF) successfully wrapped its fifth annual event, which ran from February 28 to March 8. This year's festival championed "rebels and revolutionaries, misfits and mavericks, creatives and changemakers," according to director Becky Carrier.
The festival featured 80 films screened across five venues, with 50 of these films advancing to the awards final. Organizers noted a significant "breadth" of storytelling, showcasing both emerging voices and established talent from around the country, with a notable presence from Northamptonshire filmmakers.
Winners expressed their delight, with Helen Tither, director of "The Corinthians: We Were The Champions," stating the festival lived up to its promise and that winning among tough competition meant a great deal. Steff Lee, director of "Of All The Things," was overjoyed to win the Best of Northants animation prize, finding the win extra special in her home county.
Organizers expressed pride in the quality and diversity of the films presented. They have already begun planning for the 2027 festival, aiming to build on the success and positive energy of the recent event. The festival was notably supported by 40 young people from the Young Programmers scheme.
