Actress Nora Navas is set to star in "The Bastard Daughter" ("La Hija Bastarda"), the feature film directorial debut of Olivia Delcán. Navas, acclaimed for her roles in "Black Bread," will portray a 56-year-old woman on the Spanish Mediterranean island of Monica, navigating the recent death of her mother and her own identity.
Written by Delcán, the film is described as a "sharp, free-spirited and unpredictable tragicomedy." It draws inspiration from Delcán's personal experiences with family secrets and the independent, enterprising women surrounding her. The project is lead produced by Solita Films and co-produced by Sumendi Filmak, with Elastica Films distributing in Spain and Filmin acquiring SVOD rights.
"The Bastard Daughter" has received support from the Atlàntida Mallorca Talent Lab, the Balearic Cinema Institute (ICIB), and the Menorca Insular Conseil. Principal photography is scheduled to commence in Autumn 2027, with financing currently underway.
