Nora Fatehi: 'I Didn't Shoot Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke'

Nora Fatehi stated she was unsurprised by the outrage over "Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke" from KD: The Devil. She claims to have developed a "thick skin" and recognized the "script of every influencer" behind the controversy, suggesting hired individuals were paid to fuel the row. Fatehi revealed she did not shoot the Hindi version of the song, which was purportedly an adaptation of a Kannada track she recorded three years ago.

Speaking on a podcast, Fatehi explained that she had initially agreed to the Kannada song as part of a large film featuring Sanjay Dutt. However, she did not understand the language and relied on information provided by the creators. When the Hindi dub and lyrics were produced without her approval, she raised concerns with the director, citing potential damage to her image and reputation.

Fatehi further clarified that the full song was never released, only snippets and AI-generated images were circulated. She emphasized her dissociation from the project after seeing the unapproved Hindi version and unflattering visuals. She also highlighted the limited power artists have and expressed gratitude that the backlash led to the song's removal, calling for accountability from filmmakers.

The controversy stemmed from a complaint alleging "highly vulgar, sexually suggestive, and obscene expressions" in the song, with concerns about provocative visuals and lyrics being accessible to minors. The complaint cited lyricist Raqeeb Alam, director Prem, composer Arjun Janya, and singer Mangli. The song's release on YouTube and social media led to a criminal complaint filed with the Delhi Police Cyber Cell.

"Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke" is part of the Kannada-language action-thriller "KD: The Devil," directed by Prem and starring Dhruva Sarja, Sanjay Dutt, Shilpa Shetty, and Reeshma Nanaiah. The film, set in the 1970s, follows a petty criminal named Kaali and was released in theatres on April 30, 2026.
