Christopher Nolan's highly anticipated 13th directorial feature, "The Odyssey," is set to release on July 17, aiming to capture audiences amidst a crowded blockbuster season. The newly released trailer showcases Matt Damon as the legendary hero Odysseus confronting the monstrous Cyclops, while Robert Pattinson portrays the scheming suitor Antinous, who seeks to usurp the throne of Ithaca.
The epic narrative features a remarkable ensemble cast. Anne Hathaway stars as Odysseus's devoted wife, Penelope, and Tom Holland takes on the role of their son, Telemachus. Zendaya appears as the wise goddess Athena, and Charlize Theron embodies the sorceress Circe. The extensive cast also includes Lupita Nyong'o, Jon Bernthal, and many others, bringing the characters of Homer's poem to life.
"The Odyssey" is notable for being the first narrative film entirely shot using IMAX cameras, highlighting Nolan's commitment to visual spectacle. To build anticipation, tickets for 70mm screenings were made available a year in advance in July 2025. Nolan produced the film with Emma Thomas under their Syncopy banner, following their recent success with "Oppenheimer."
