Director Christopher Nolan has admitted to being "terrified" of venturing into the romantic comedy genre. While he enjoys watching such films, Nolan believes directing them presents immense challenges, calling it "one of the hardest things in the world."
Speaking on The Tonight Show, Nolan elaborated that the risk involved in comedy is particularly daunting. He noted that if audiences don't connect with parts of his other films, he can rationalize it as a misunderstanding of his vision. However, with comedy, there is "no hiding" from a lack of audience laughter.
This revelation follows the considerable success of Nolan's recent adaptation of Homer's "The Odyssey." The ancient epic has now garnered over $600 million at the global box office. The film features Matt Damon in the lead role of Odysseus.
