The trailer and first-look photos for the indie film 'No Translation Required' have been released by Cristo Fernández and Paloma Cinco's production company, Espectro MX Films. This 90-minute bilingual romantic comedy is slated for its premiere at the Guadalajara Film Festival in April.
Directed by Rafael Altamira, the film was written and conceptualized by Fernández and Kelsie McDonald, who also executive produced. Based on a true story, it centers on a young taco vendor from Guadalajara who falls for an assistant at a Los Angeles fashion brand. Their cross-border romance navigates ambition, distance, and immigration realities.
Filmed entirely in Guadalajara, the story unfolds between the Mexican city and Los Angeles. Paloma Cinco highlighted the strategic advantage of filming in Jalisco, noting the cash rebate from Filma Jalisco and the region's growing status as a competitive production destination in Latin America.
The ensemble cast includes various actors and performers, with Mexican pop star Sofish making her acting debut. The production reunites key creative collaborators from previous projects, with Emmy-nominated composer Tom Howe scoring the film. Espectro MX Films continues its mission to bridge Mexico and the United States through culturally driven storytelling.
