Nurse Entangled in Retirement Community Scam

Georgia Bernstein's new film, 'Night Nurse,' premiering on Monday, January 26, at The Yarrow Theatre, is a psychosexual thriller set within an idyllic retirement community. The narrative follows Eleni, a new night nurse whose first day is marked by an unusual encounter with a patient and unsettling scam calls targeting residents.

The film draws inspiration from a personal experience where the writer-director's grandmother nearly fell victim to a grandparent scam. This incident sparked an obsession with the performative aspect of scams and the emotional manipulation involved.

Bernstein also explored the theme of caregiving's darker side after seeing a billboard that read, 'It's amazing to be needed.' This prompted a deeper examination of the compulsive nature of caregiving beyond professional settings, extending into personal relationships. The cast includes Cemre Paksoy and Bruce McKenzie, with Gersh serving as the sales agent.
