At the close of season 2, Sutherland handed over classified files to Jacob Monroe, a powerful figure influencing the U.S. presidential election, in exchange for preventing a chemical weapons attack.
Creator Shawn Ryan noted that Sutherland's journey in season 3 will explore his struggle to maintain his moral compass while engaged in clandestine operations. The upcoming season will feature Sutherland investigating a shadowy dark money network and evading its hired assassins.
He will team up with Isabel, a persistent journalist, to uncover buried secrets and long-standing grudges that pose a significant threat to the government. The new season will also see the return of familiar faces like Catherine Weaver, Aidan Mosley, and Chelsea Arrington, alongside several new characters.
