Summary
- HGTV show host Nicole Curtis used a racial slur during filming.
- Curtis claims the slur was a 'slip of the tongue' due to made-up words.
- The scandal led to the cancellation of her HGTV series Rehab Addict.

Nicole Curtis, the 49-year-old host of HGTV's "Rehab Addict," has broken her silence following the cancellation of her series. The show was removed from all HGTV platforms after Curtis was caught on camera using a racial slur. Curtis appeared on "The Breakfast Club" radio show, less than two months after the incident, to explain her actions.
Curtis attributes the offensive language to a "slip of the tongue," stating she often uses nonsensical words, particularly those related to flatulence, a habit picked up from her sons. She claimed phrases like "fart digger" and "fart knocker" were meant, inadvertently leading to the slur. Host Charlamagne tha God expressed skepticism about her defense, noting how naturally the phrase was uttered.
In January, an HGTV spokesperson confirmed awareness of the offensive comment, stating such language is hurtful and does not align with the network's values. Consequently, "Rehab Addict" was removed from all HGTV platforms. Curtis, a preservation expert, also mentioned her family lives in Detroit, a detail that prompted further scrutiny from the radio hosts regarding her background and intentions.
