Summary
- Nicolas Cage stars as a washed-up, older Peter Parker.
- The tone blends Humphrey Bogart's noir with Bugs Bunny's playfulness.
- The series aims for a contained, self-contained story jewel.

Producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller found inspiration for MGM+ and Prime Video's Spider-Noir series by blending Humphrey Bogart's classic noir demeanor with the playful spirit of Bugs Bunny, a combination they felt Nicolas Cage embodies. Cage will portray Ben Reilly, a seasoned but down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York.
The series is designed as a contained narrative, a self-contained "jewel" rather than part of a larger interconnected universe. Showrunner Oren Uziel, a noted noir aficionado, helped craft the concept of a detective with spider-powers channeling a Bogart-esque persona. Cage himself requested to play an older, more world-weary character, resonating with themes of personal struggle against impossible odds.
