Summary
- Nicki Minaj's lawyer Judd Burstein abruptly withdrew from representing her
- Minaj is facing a $10 million defamation lawsuit from a fan named Tameer Peak
- Minaj has hired a new business management company, The Northstar Group, to handle the case

As of November 12, 2025, rapper Nicki Minaj is facing a major legal challenge after her longtime lawyer, Judd Burstein, abruptly withdrew from representing her in a $10 million defamation lawsuit.
The lawsuit was filed by a fan named Tameer Peak, who claims Minaj "falsely accused" him of criminal conduct, stalking, and mental disability. According to court documents, Minaj allegedly made disparaging comments about Peak on a Stationhead broadcast in April 2024.
Burstein, who had previously defended Minaj in two other high-profile cases, declined to continue representing her in this matter, citing unspecified reasons. In a statement, Burstein said he has "no doubt" that Peak's claims are "entirely frivolous" and that Minaj "did nothing wrong."
Minaj's new business management company, The Northstar Group, has now stepped in to handle the case. They have requested a 45-day extension to allow Minaj time to find and onboard new litigation counsel. The Northstar Group says they only became aware of the lawsuit last week, after Burstein's sudden withdrawal.
This legal battle is the latest challenge for Minaj, who is also dealing with a creditor attempting to seize her $20 million mansion in Los Angeles over a separate legal dispute.
