Summary
- NFL expands halftime shows to seven international cities.
- Jonas Brothers kicked off the global series in Melbourne.
- Music strategy aims to engage casual fans globally.

The NFL is launching its most ambitious international slate of games, featuring seven major halftime performances in seven global cities across four continents. This expansion, building on a successful test run last year, aims to leverage music to engage a broader audience.
Tim Tubito, the NFL's senior director of global game presentation and entertainment, highlighted that the strategy involves selecting artists who resonate locally and globally, and whose performances can translate to a live stadium environment. The goal is to attract casual fans and those unfamiliar with football.
Performances kicked off with the Jonas Brothers in Melbourne on September 10, 2026. The schedule includes artists like Pedro Sampaio & Ricky Martin in Rio de Janeiro, Ayra Starr in London, and will feature Burna Boy in Paris, Manuel Turizo in Madrid, and Cage the Elephant in Munich throughout October and November 2026.
Tubito also addressed challenges, including managing expectations due to shorter halftimes compared to the Super Bowl and adapting performances for stadiums not purpose-built for NFL games. Protecting the field integrity is paramount while ensuring a high-quality entertainment experience.
