The race to cast the next James Bond is accelerating, with makers initiating screen tests for the iconic role. Among the prominent contenders is 'Game of Thrones' star Richard Madden, who recently portrayed a spy in 'Citadel'. He is joined by other notable actors, including Jack Lowden from 'Slow Horses' and Callum Turner from 'Masters of the Air'.
Sources indicate that director Denis Villeneuve is overseeing these screen tests, which commenced recently and are expected to be thorough, evaluating stunt capabilities, screen presence, and dialogue delivery. While reports suggest at least three actors are involved in the assessment, the exact number of participants remains undisclosed. 'Euphoria' star Jacob Elordi is confirmed not to be testing for the role.
Initially planned for earlier in the month, these assessments were rescheduled due to the finalists' conflicting schedules and are now set to conclude next week. Despite the ongoing tests, no concrete timeline has been established for the final decision on who will inherit the 007 mantle. The casting process began in the spring with the appointment of casting director Nina Gold.
