A new live-action Scooby-Doo series is in development at Netflix, with actress Grace set to star as a young Daphne Blake. This series will delve into the origins of the beloved Mystery Inc. gang and how they first encountered one another.
The show, picked up for eight episodes, is described as a modern reimagining of the classic cartoon. The official logline states that during their final summer at camp, Shaggy and Daphne investigate a haunting mystery surrounding a Great Dane puppy that may have witnessed a supernatural murder.
Grace's casting marks a return to the character, as she previously voiced young Daphne in the animated film "Scoob!". The series will also feature Velma and Freddy as the group sets out to solve the case, which threatens to expose their secrets. Writers and showrunners Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg are executive producing alongside others, with Warner Bros. Television producing.
This project follows previous live-action Scooby-Doo adaptations, including the successful 2002 film and its sequel, as well as earlier live-action TV films. The franchise has a rich history, originating from the animated series in the late 1960s.
