Roku Unleashes New Holiday Rom-Coms

The Roku Channel is set to release two new original holiday romantic comedies later this year. 'Second Chance Holiday' stars Ayesha Curry as a dating expert determined to end her holiday season dumping streak. The plot thickens when she reconnects with a high school sweetheart, played by Matthew Daddario, making her question if fate is guiding her back to first love.

Maxwell McGuire directed 'Second Chance Holiday,' with a script by Erin Muroski. This film marks a significant role for Curry, who is returning to acting after building her empire and raising a family. Daddario is known for his roles in 'Shadowhunters' and 'Why Women Kill.'

The second film, 'The Holiday Spark,' features Joey Graziadei, known from 'The Bachelor,' and Jamie Chung. Graziadei plays a firefighter who enlists children's book illustrator Laura, portrayed by Chung, to plan an epic holiday party for his firehouse. Their collaboration sparks questions about their views on romance.

Directed by Rhonda Baraka from a script by Mary Kate Hegarty, 'The Holiday Spark' also represents a significant debut for Graziadei in his first feature film role. Chung brings extensive acting experience to the project, having appeared in numerous television shows and films.

These new Roku Originals are part of an ongoing strategy by the streamer to capitalize on the popular holiday season for content consumption. Roku has found considerable success with its holiday rom-coms, with previous titles consistently landing in the platform's top 10 during their debut months. Brian Tannenbaum, Roku's head of originals, expressed excitement for expanding their holiday movie collection, aiming to deliver the warmth and humor audiences expect.
