An independent European-U.S. TV series, titled "Odysseus," is being developed to offer a visceral and muscular depiction of the Bronze Age. This new production, unrelated to recent film adaptations, aims to capture the authentic world of blood, ships, and betrayal that inspired Homer's epics.
The series is being produced by Tanweer out of Athens, with showrunner Karl Gajdusek, known for "Stranger Things." The team emphasizes real history, allowing the narrative to collide with the major events of the Bronze Age collapse.
Filming is slated to commence early next year in Greece and Armenia, with hopes of expanding the universe. Directors are looking to create an expanded series universe, and there is interest from a U.S. network.
