- The novel is a love letter to Jane Austen and rom-coms.
Anna James, author of popular middle-grade series, is set to release her adult debut novel, "Read Me Like a Book," in spring 2027. The story follows Marianne Buxton, who, after losing her job, starts working at Wildflower Books. She must contend with her literary-snob coworker, Jude.
Marianne soon discovers a hidden door in the bookshop leading directly into the world of Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice." Initially seeking refuge from her own life, her escape becomes complicated when she encounters a mysterious stranger within the classic novel's setting.
The novel, scheduled for publication on April 27, 2027, is inspired by British rom-coms and Jane Austen's beloved works. James aims to create a "bookish love story" that appeals to a broad audience, not just literary enthusiasts.
