An ambitious new HBO Max drama series is in development in Spain, inspired by the tragic and unresolved events in the Pyrenees hamlet of Tor. Created by preeminent Spanish screenwriters Fran Araújo and Eduard Sola, the project promises to blend mystery, suspense, and human drama.
Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi, the acclaimed writer-director-producers behind "La Bola Negra," are set to executive produce the series through their Suma Content company. They aim to create a production where nature and landscape are as central as the characters across decades.
The series will explore the legends and events surrounding the Tor case, which continues to captivate Spain. Araújo and Sola described Tor as a "universe" shaped by historical events and inhabited by a few people, offering fertile ground for storytelling.
HBO Max described the crime series as an "ambitious adaptation inspired by real events." Collaboration with Carles Porta, author of a book on the Tor tragedy, is also underway.
