Summary
- Ganga Aarti now a daily ritual at Lalita Ghat of Kashi Vishwanath Dham.
- New ritual began on Thursday evening, the first day of Chaitra Navratri.
- Nine women achievers installed 'kalash' as part of the inaugural ceremony.

A new daily Ganga Aarti ritual was inaugurated at Lalita Ghat of Kashi Vishwanath Dham on Thursday evening, coinciding with the start of Chaitra Navratri and the Hindu New Year. Seven senior priests performed the ceremony, which included Vedic hymns and prayers, to a large gathering.
The ritual, now a daily fixture, follows the pattern of similar Ganga Aartis performed at Dashaswamedh, Sheetla, Assi, and Namo Ghats. The Kashi Vishwanath temple also hosted cultural events during the inauguration.
As part of the ceremony, nine women achievers, including folk singer Malini Awasthi, installed nine sacred 'kalash' (urns). This new tradition is seen as a significant addition, bringing the worship of goddess Ganga directly to the doorstep of Lord Vishwanath.
The Ganga Aarti at Namo Ghat was initiated on September 17, 2025, a date significant to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Ganga Aartis across various ghats have become major global attractions over the past three decades, with Dashaswamedh Ghat drawing the largest crowds.
