Several new films offer compelling narratives this season. Scarlett Johansson directs June Squibb in 'Eleanor the Great,' a drama about an elderly woman who fabricates a past as a Holocaust survivor. The film premiered at Cannes.
"Lurker" presents a psychological thriller where a retail worker befriends a pop star, leading to a complex exploration of fame and uneven power dynamics. Another drama, "Preparation for the Next Life," adapts Atticus Lish's novel, focusing on an undocumented Uyghur immigrant's encounter with an American soldier in New York City.
Art exhibitions also feature prominently, with Peter Doig's immersive show at the Serpentine Gallery and a "Wallace and Gromit" retrospective at The Harris in Preston. Additionally, a display of prints by women artists, including Käthe Kollwitz and Faith Ringgold, is on view at the V&A.
