This collaboration brings Payal Kapadia and Anurag Kashyap onto the project as executive producers. Filming for "Chronicles of a Confession" is scheduled to commence in early November.
The narrative follows a Kashmiri shawl seller who confesses to a crime he did not commit, initiating a chain of unforeseen events. The screenplay garnered recognition from the Busan International Film Festival's Asian Cinema Fund for script development. Vats' previous work, "Eeb Allay Ooo!," received critical acclaim at festivals worldwide.
Ranjan Singh of Flip Films is producing alongside Action Filmz, Etched Films, and Khan & Kumar Productions, establishing a creative base across India, the U.S., and the U.A.E. Anurag Kashyap expressed admiration for Vats' script, calling it "great writing" and stating his envy for the project.
Kavita Gupta highlighted that the film aligns with Cineroost's vision for "rare, global, and rooted" content, emphasizing her passion for nurturing creative voices and bridging different worlds. She described her work in the creative sphere as driven by soul and passion rather than sustenance, allowing her to embrace risk.
