Former CBS Comedy Head Jon Koa and WireImage co-founder Jeff Vespa have partnered to launch Some Assembly, a new media company based in Los Angeles. This venture is designed to create premium content primarily for digital distribution, responding to evolving media consumption habits.
Some Assembly plans to release long-form programming on YouTube and short-form series for platforms like TikTok and Instagram. "We make shows that look like TV and feel like TV but focus on digital distribution first," stated Koa.
The company's first original series, "5 Things with Jay Mewes," is set to premiere on YouTube on March 5. The show features celebrity guests selecting five items that represent them, with companion short-form content appearing on TikTok and Instagram.
Beyond content creation, Some Assembly will offer strategic and creative advisory services. This includes guidance on platform marketing, digital programming, and audience engagement, especially for brands seeking authentic connections with consumers through entertainment.
Both Koa and Vespa bring extensive experience to Some Assembly. Koa previously held executive roles at CBS and Condé Nast Entertainment, while Vespa is a Cannes Lion award-winning producer and former co-founder of WireImage.
