A new comedy series, inspired by the beloved Barbershop film franchise, will debut on February 10. The entire eight-episode season will be available exclusively on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories worldwide.
The series stars Jermaine Fowler as Travis "Trav" Walker, who returns to Chicago with the intention of preserving his grandfather's legacy at the iconic Calvin's barbershop. However, both the shop and the city have undergone changes, presenting Trav with challenges as he seeks his place among a new barbershop crew and loyal customers.
Notable cast members include Brett Gray, Punkie Johnson, Roy Wood Jr., E.J. Bonilla, Bresha Webb, Bokeem Woodbine, Tiana Okoye, and Langston Kerman. The series will also feature guest appearances from Zack Fox, Ego Nwodim, Diallo Riddle, Ziwe, Tituss Burgess, comedian CP, Devon Walker, and Belmont Cameli.
The Barbershop franchise, which began with the 2002 film starring Ice Cube, has previously spanned four movies and grossed over $235 million globally. The films focus on the social lives of barbershop employees in Chicago's South Side. The franchise includes "Barbershop 2: Back in Business" (2004), the spinoff "Beauty Shop" (2005) starring Queen Latifah, and "Barbershop: The Next Cut" (2016).
