Cantilever Media and Architect have established a new joint venture with the ambitious goal of producing two animated feature films each year. This collaboration is set to finance and manage international sales for these projects, aiming to strengthen the UK's independent animation scene.
The initial project slated for development is 'Bird Brain,' a family film based on Guy Kennaway's novel. Dana Dorian, known for 'Lego City Adventures,' is attached to direct this adaptation. The venture seeks to create unique, UK-originated animated content for a global audience.
Cantilever Media, co-producer of 'The Amazing Maurice,' has been keen on developing the UK's independent feature animation sector. The new partnership will see ReDefine Originals serve as the animation studio, with Kazoo Films handling UK and Ireland distribution, and Architect managing worldwide sales.
Architect, founded in 2023, brings expertise in international sales and financing. This joint venture will combine market intelligence from both the UK distribution business and international territories to inform story development and project optimization from the outset.
