London's iconic Olympia is undergoing a $1.7 billion transformation, set to welcome British Airways ARC, a major 3,800-capacity live music and event space. Scheduled to open in 2026, this new venue will be situated above the existing west exhibition hall, revitalizing a site with a rich musical history. The renovation aims to blend its heritage with state-of-the-art facilities for both performers and attendees.
The comprehensive upgrade of the 138-year-old Olympia, originally built for agricultural and military shows, extends beyond the music venue. Plans include the addition of a 1,575-seat Olympia Theatre, operated by The Shubert Organization and Trafalgar Entertainment, scheduled for late 2027. Furthermore, the complex will boast 30 new bars and eateries, two hotels, and 550,000 square feet of office space.
This ambitious project, spearheaded by Deutsche Finance International and Yoo Capital since their 2017 acquisition, seeks to create a vibrant, modern destination. AEG Presents UK, a prominent name in live entertainment management, will oversee the booking inquiries for British Airways ARC, promising a world-class experience that respects Olympia's legendary past.
