Neve Campbell, the original 'final girl' of the Scream franchise, will return for Scream 7. Campbell, who portrays Sidney Prescott, had previously stepped away from the series after contract negotiations for Scream VI resulted in a salary offer she felt undervalued her contributions. Her decision to sit out Scream VI was difficult, though she maintained it was the right choice. Campbell's return coincides with significant cast and crew changes for Scream 7. Melissa Barrera, a star of the previous two films, was fired from the seventh installment in 2023 after her criticisms of Israeli actions in the Israel-Hamas war were deemed 'hate speech' by the production company.
