Neve Campbell Returns to Scream 7 After Pay Dispute
26 Feb
Summary
- Neve Campbell returns for Scream 7 after a salary dispute led to her absence.
- Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega exited Scream 7 following Barrera's firing.
- Original cast members David Arquette and Courteney Cox are also returning.

Neve Campbell, the original 'final girl' of the Scream franchise, will return for Scream 7. Campbell, who portrays Sidney Prescott, had previously stepped away from the series after contract negotiations for Scream VI resulted in a salary offer she felt undervalued her contributions. She expressed surprise at her own return, having believed her time with the franchise had concluded after her absence from Scream VI.
Her decision to sit out Scream VI was difficult, though she maintained it was the right choice. Campbell's return coincides with significant cast and crew changes for Scream 7. Melissa Barrera, a star of the previous two films, was fired from the seventh installment in 2023 after her criticisms of Israeli actions in the Israel-Hamas war were deemed 'hate speech' by the production company. Consequently, co-star Jenna Ortega and director Christopher Landon also departed the project.
Scream 7 is set to reunite several franchise favorites, with original cast members David Arquette and Courteney Cox expected to appear. Newer cast members Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding are also returning, alongside newcomer Isabel May, who will play Sidney's daughter. The film marks Kevin Williamson, the original screenwriter, directing for the first time within the franchise.
