In November 2025, Netflix is set to premiere a new original series titled 'Operation Safed Sagar', which is inspired by the true events of a key mission carried out by the Indian Air Force (IAF) during the 1999 Kargil War. The series, directed by Oni Sen of 'Asur' fame, will spotlight the seamless coordination between the IAF and the Indian Army as they worked to reclaim Indian positions along the Line of Control.
The first glimpse of the show was released on November 2, 2025, offering a visually stunning look at the high-stakes military operation. The teaser features actors Siddharth, best known for 'Rang De Basanti', and Jimmy Shergill, as well as Abhay Verma, known for 'Munjya', portraying fighter pilots preparing for battle. The footage showcases the treacherous, snow-clad mountains of Kargil and gripping scenes of IAF personnel, including a squadron gearing up on the tarmac.
The 47-day 'Operation Safed Sagar' mission, which began on May 26, 1999, remains one of the most significant events in the histories of both India and Pakistan. The series aims to capture the courage and strategic excellence of the Indian Armed Forces, featuring precision airstrikes and the coordinated efforts between the IAF and the Indian Army to drive out Pakistani forces from Indian positions.
