Netflix's most-watched movies globally for the first half of 2026 reveal a strong preference for thrillers. Alan Ritchson's military thriller "War Machine" claimed the top position, drawing an extraordinary 147 million viewers.
The action-packed film, which features Ritchson as a combat engineer facing a mysterious threat, has been so popular that a sequel is already in development.
Following closely behind, "The RIP," starring best friends Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, also secured a high ranking, underscoring the genre's appeal.
Other thrillers that captured audience attention include the survival film "Thrash" and the psychological thriller "Apex," starring Charlize Theron.
Mid-table success was seen by animated features, with "Swapped" ranking third and the musical adventure "Kpop Demon Hunters" at number four.
Romance films made a more modest showing, with "People We Meet On Vacation" at seventh and Jennifer Lopez's office romance securing the tenth spot.
