20 Aug
Summary
- Netflix and AMC Studios will jointly develop and produce original series.
- Shane Black and Craig Silverstein are behind the first co-production, Bannerman.
- The deal expands a partnership that began with Breaking Bad on Netflix.

Netflix and AMC Studios have officially entered into a co-production agreement to develop and produce original series together. This collaboration marks a significant new strategy for Netflix, enabling it to work more closely with traditional studios.
The first series to emerge from this partnership is the drama "Bannerman," a project spearheaded by filmmaker Shane Black and writer Craig Silverstein. Black will direct and executive produce the initial episodes, while Silverstein will showrun and write.
"Bannerman" is set to premiere on AMC in the United States and Canada. Subsequently, it will be available on Netflix in the same regions 90 days after the season finale airs on AMC. For Australia, New Zealand, and Spain, Netflix and AMC will jointly premiere each episode. Globally, Netflix will debut the show everywhere else.
This co-production deal builds upon the established relationship between AMC and Netflix, which dates back to "Breaking Bad" becoming Netflix's inaugural hit series. It also provides AMC Studios, a predominantly linear network, with innovative strategies for the current streaming landscape.
Recently, in August 2026, the two companies announced a substantial $500 million licensing deal for "The Walking Dead" universe. The "Bannerman" project itself has a history, with AMC Studios acquiring rights to the Maxim books for TV development in January 2023. Silverstein's involvement predates his work on other series, returning to "Bannerman" as it gained momentum at Netflix.
The series "Bannerman" centers on a covert operative who recruits assassins to abandon their dangerous lives for suburban normalcy. However, their attempts at retirement are complicated by enemies, government paranoia, and relentless pursuit.
