Netflix is developing an adult animated series based on the long-running comic book 'Powers,' co-created by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming and published by Dark Horse Comics. Bendis is reportedly writing the pilot episode, and Oeming is participating in the show's visual development. The series will blend superhero and police procedural elements, following two Chicago detectives who investigate crimes involving superpowers.
'Powers' first debuted as an independent title before being published by Image Comics, where it won an Eisner Award for best new series in 2001. Bendis also earned best writer awards in subsequent years. The comic later moved to Marvel's Icon imprint and is currently featured in a new limited series celebrating its 25th anniversary. This animated adaptation follows a previous live-action series on the PlayStation Network that aired for two seasons in the mid-2010s.
