Netflix has acquired Ben Affleck's AI startup company, InterPositive, significantly boosting the actor's reported $150 million fortune. An insider revealed on Wednesday that Affleck and his investors could earn up to $600 million from the streaming giant, contingent on certain performance targets being met.
Affleck, who founded the Los Angeles-based company in 2022 with a 16-person team, expressed his enthusiasm for the deal. He described InterPositive as a tool designed to resolve filmmaking challenges he personally encountered, emphasizing its function as a model built from a creator's own material rather than generating content from scratch.
InterPositive aims to simplify complex production tasks, such as removing wires from stunts, reframing shots, or enhancing backgrounds, thereby increasing efficiency and creative options for filmmakers. Affleck stressed that the company's goal is to preserve the human element in storytelling, aligning with shared values and Netflix's responsible approach to technology scaling.
This venture adds to Affleck's other professional endeavors, including co-running the independent studio The Artists Equity with Matt Damon. The duo also recently announced their executive production of a new darkly comic drama for Sony Classics.
