Neelakanti Patekar: Physics Whiz, Actor, and Nana's Rock

Neelakanti Patekar, wife of actor Nana Patekar, recently made a rare public appearance during the actor's cremation in Pune, receiving the national flag. Her personal journey is as compelling as her husband's fame.

Originally from Pune, Neelakanti pursued physics and reportedly excelled in the IIT entrance examinations. However, she chose a path in theatre, ultimately winning awards for her performances in Marathi theatre and cinema.

Her talent was recognized early with a Gold Medal for Best Actress in 1973 and later, a Maharashtra State Government award for her role in the 1989 film 'Aatm Vishwas'.

Neelakanti supported Nana Patekar's nascent acting career by providing financial stability with her earnings as a bank officer. Nana has credited her immensely for enabling him to pursue his passion.

After a significant hiatus, Neelakanti returned to the screen in the 2025 historical drama 'Chhaava', playing a pivotal role.

Despite a life that saw both professional triumphs and personal tragedies, including the loss of their first son, Neelakanti and Nana Patekar maintained a legally married status while living separately for years.
