On October 30, 2025, K-pop fans are bracing for a bittersweet farewell as NCT members Doyoung and Jungwoo prepare to enlist for military service on December 8. According to SM Entertainment, Doyoung will join the Army as an active-duty soldier, while Jungwoo will serve in the Army's band unit.
To prioritize safety, the agency has urged fans not to visit the enlistment site, which is expected to be crowded with other soldiers and their families. Yonhap News reported that there will be no special public event on the day of their enlistment.
This marks the third wave of military service for NCT members. Previously, Taeyong enlisted in the Navy band and is set to be discharged on December 14, while Jaehyun started his service in the Army's band last November and is expected to finish next May.
Both Doyoung, born in 1996, and Jungwoo, born in 1998, debuted through NCT and also performed as part of the unit 'NCT DOJAEJUNG', gaining recognition for their chemistry on stage. Doyoung made headlines last year with his solo album 'Pomal of Youth' and a subsequent solo tour, showcasing his versatility as an artist. Jungwoo, on the other hand, has been praised for his bright and cheerful stage presence in various NCT units.
While fans expressed sadness about the duo's absence, the overwhelming sentiment is one of support and anticipation for their safe return. The enlistment marks another milestone for NCT, with fans hoping their group activities will resume with renewed energy once Doyoung and Jungwoo complete their duties.
