The NCIS: Origins episode "Feelin' Alright?" revealed the turbulent beginnings of the friendship between young Leroy Jethro Gibbs and Dwayne Pride. Their initial encounter occurred in 1981 Louisiana, where a dispute at a bar led to Pride punching Gibbs' father and both men being ejected. This inauspicious start marked their first meeting, preceding their later collaboration.
Eleven years later, in 1992, Pride, then an NIS agent, partnered with Gibbs to investigate a smuggling ring tied to a murder. This collaboration, initially strained, developed into mutual respect after they successfully infiltrated and busted the operation undercover. Their combined efforts, along with others, led to the press dubbing them the 'Fed Five'.
Austin Stowell, portraying Gibbs, opted not to study past interactions between Mark Harmon and Scott Bakula, emphasizing the separate development of these younger characters. The 'Fed Five' are also set to reunite in 1994 to pursue the 'Privileged Killer', ensuring further appearances from Pride and other key figures in future episodes.
