Nawazuddin Siddiqui, one of Bollywood's most respected actors, has had a remarkable journey to stardom. Prior to his success, Siddiqui faced years of rejection and ridicule, even from his own family. In a recent interview, the actor revealed that his father was deeply troubled by Siddiqui's early roles, where he was often portrayed as a character who was constantly beaten up on screen.
Siddiqui's father, hailing from Western Uttar Pradesh, expressed his disapproval, asking his son to stop visiting home after being "beaten up" in films like 'Sarfarosh' and 'Munna Bhai MBBS'. The actor was so upset by his father's reaction that he did not return to his village for three years.
However, Siddiqui's fortunes changed dramatically with the release of Anurag Kashyap's 'Gangs of Wasseypur' in 2012. His intense performance as a gangster not only earned him critical acclaim but also his father's long-awaited approval. "After the film, I went back to my village and asked my father, 'So, what do you think now?' He smiled and said, 'Yes, this time you did a good job,'" the actor recalled.
Since then, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has become synonymous with powerful performances and complex characters. He has continued to impress audiences with his versatility, recently appearing in the horror-comedy 'Thamma' alongside Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna. The film has grossed around Rs 125 crore worldwide.
As Siddiqui looks ahead, he has several exciting projects in the pipeline, including 'Faraar', a heist thriller, 'Section 108', centered around a major alleged scam, and 'Blind Babu', a cyber-drama set for release in 2026. With his remarkable journey and continued success, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has cemented his place as one of the most respected and sought-after actors in the Indian film industry.
