On January 23, violinist L. Subramaniam will present the Indian premiere of his Navagraha Symphony, a unique composition inspired by Indian cosmology. This significant event marks the 35th anniversary of the Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival.
The symphony, running for 45 minutes, draws inspiration from the concept of nine planets and their influence, incorporating Sanskrit shlokas. It will feature a full symphony orchestra, a choir, dancers, and soloists, creating a large-scale production.
Kavita Krishnamurti, festival director, expressed enthusiasm for performing in Chennai, noting the city's open-minded audience. The festival showcases a rich blend of musical traditions, with performers ranging from traditional Indian percussionists to English songwriters and Bollywood artists.
