Summary
- New temporary entrance opens near Station Hall.
- Hudson Boulevard route bypasses previous 400m detour.
- Permanent new entrance to open at Central Hall in 2028.
The National Railway Museum (NRM) in York has introduced a convenient new temporary entrance, eliminating the need for visitors to navigate a lengthy 400m detour. Located on Hudson Boulevard, this new access point provides a direct route to the museum's Station Hall building.
Previously, visitors had to follow a significant diversion around the museum site to reach the sole entrance on Leeman Road. This was particularly challenging for some guests and especially difficult during inclement weather. The new temporary entrance, situated near a pedestrian and cycle route, has been developed to simplify the visitor journey.
This improved access will remain operational until the museum's new permanent entrance at Central Hall is completed. The Central Hall development is slated for an opening in 2028 and promises to become the NRM's main entrance, offering level access for all visitors for the first time in its history.
