Viral Video: Was Naseeruddin Shah at Delhi Protest?
21 Jul
Summary
- A video falsely claimed Naseeruddin Shah joined a Delhi protest.
- The footage was actually filmed outside a Mumbai cinema hall.
- Edited clips concealed the original location and context.

A video circulating on social media falsely suggested that acclaimed actor Naseeruddin Shah and his sons, Imaad and Vivaan Shah, were present at a student protest in Delhi's Jantar Mantar. Numerous posts claimed the actor stood in solidarity with the demonstrators, observing the event silently.
However, investigations revealed the video was filmed in Mumbai, outside Regal Cinema in Colaba. The original footage, posted on Instagram on July 15 and re-shared on July 20, clearly shows the Shah family at the cinema. The clip also indicated they were attending screenings for 'Raja Shivaji' and 'Pati Patni Aur Woh Do'.
Edited versions of the video were circulated, omitting details that pinpointed the location as a Mumbai theatre rather than the Delhi protest site. The timing of the video's original posting further contradicts the viral claim that it depicted recent protest attendance.
