Telangana's Cultural Voice Honored with Prestigious Award

Nandini Sidda Reddy, a distinguished poet and writer from Telangana, has received the Sahitya Akademi award for his poetry collection 'Animesha.' This prestigious honor recognizes his significant contributions to Telugu literature and his role in fostering Telangana's cultural identity. Sidda Reddy, aged 70 as of the award, has consistently championed the region's culture through his writings and literary activism. He was instrumental in establishing the Telangana Sahitya Akademi, serving as its first chairman. His prolific career, which began in his school days, includes numerous celebrated poetry collections such as 'Diviti' and 'Bhoomi Swapnam.' During the Telangana statehood movement, his poem 'Nageti Salallo Na Telangana' became an anthem for the people's aspirations and was later adapted into a film song. He also founded organizations like Manjira Rachayitala Sangham to promote literary engagement. Sidda Reddy pursued higher education at Osmania University, earning Ph.D. degrees in modern Telugu poetry. He previously served as a Telugu lecturer and college principal, retiring in 2012. Political leaders have congratulated him on this significant achievement.
