Filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar shared that veteran actor Nana Patekar had committed to a film directed by Rajkumar Hirani. Manjrekar expressed sadness that this collaboration, which he described as potentially 'magic,' will now not come to fruition. Patekar had informed Manjrekar about signing the Rajkumar Hirani project before his passing.
Recounting a moment from the 2016 Marathi film 'Natsamrat,' Manjrekar described how Patekar handled a tense situation on set. After Patekar scolded a nervous sound recordist and cameraman, Manjrekar suggested replacing them. Patekar then diffused the tension by embracing and mildly admonishing the crew, after which filming proceeded smoothly.
Manjrekar also spoke about the profound shock of Patekar's death. He had recently seen an Instagram video of Patekar reviewing a book and noted his pale appearance. Manjrekar intended to call him the next morning, but tragically, Patekar passed away in London hours later, a day he considered Patekar's way of saying goodbye.
