Filmmaker Bhadran had once envisioned a Hindi adaptation of his critically acclaimed Malayalam thriller, 'Iyer The Great'. He specifically considered the late Bollywood actor Nana Patekar to play the lead role, originally portrayed by Mammootty. The director believed the story, which centers on a man who develops the ability to predict future events after a fall, had the potential for a larger audience in Hindi cinema.
Bhadran met with Patekar in Mumbai, where he shared the pivotal scene involving a character's dramatic fall from a tree and subsequent newfound precognitive abilities. Patekar was reportedly so impressed by this sequence that he expressed his excitement physically, hugging the director. However, despite this initial enthusiasm, the Hindi remake of 'Iyer The Great' never materialized.
This wasn't the only potential collaboration between Bhadran and Patekar that did not come to fruition. The director also considered Patekar for a role in his 2005 film 'Udayon', but Patekar's reluctance to act in Malayalam unless he could dub his own lines led to Nassar being cast instead.
In 2023, Nana Patekar reportedly stated he had never been approached for a Malayalam film, a comment Bhadran attributes to these discussions never progressing into actual projects. Bhadran later went on to direct other successful films, including the Mohanlal-starrer 'Spadikam'.
