In a revealing interview from August 2015, veteran actor Nana Patekar shared anecdotes from his early film career. He recounted being reluctant to enter films but was persuaded by Smita Patil. Initially offered a minor role as a rapist in Ravi Chopra's 1984 film 'Aaj Ki Awaz,' Patekar refused. His strong reaction eventually led to him being offered a different part, which provided him with recognition.
Patekar also spoke about his close relationship with actor Ajay Devgn. He mentioned that his appearance in the 2017 film 'Golmaal Again' was solely as a favor to Devgn. In a February 2018 interview, Patekar described Devgn as a 'dear friend,' expressing that their bond would endure.
Furthermore, Patekar addressed his reputation for being assertive on set. He acknowledged interfering with the filmmaking process and admitted to leaving sets on occasion. He explained that such actions were typically a response to poorly prepared scripts or last-minute script alterations, stating he could not perform effectively under such conditions.
