Original 'Naked Gun' Director Blasts 2025 Reboot as 'Total Miss'

In a scathing review, the original director of the 'Naked Gun' franchise, David Zucker, has slammed the upcoming 2025 reboot of the classic comedy film. Speaking to Woman's World, Zucker, who directed the 1988 original starring Leslie Nielsen, said that the new film's director, Seth MacFarlane, "totally missed" the mark.

Zucker, who co-created the spoof comedy genre with his brother Jerry and partner Jim Abrahams, claimed that the new 'Naked Gun' movie fails to capture the unique style and comedic approach they pioneered 50 years ago. "We had our 15 rules, and I'm teaching them in the hopes that if anybody tries to do a movie like this again, they'll do it right," he said.

The filmmaker also criticized the big-budget nature of the 2025 reboot, stating that "big budgets and comedy are opposites." He believes the new film's focus on "technical pizzazz" is at odds with the original's more understated approach.
