The city of Nagpur was filled with the resonant sounds of classical music as Saptak Nagpur's two-day festival commenced. The event, held at the Kavi Kulaguru Kalidas Auditorium, began with captivating performances by celebrated flautist Nityanand Haldipur and Kirana gharana vocalist Jayateerth Mevundi, drawing a packed audience.
This special festival was organized to honor the birth centenary of the legendary musician Annapurna Devi and also in memory of Moreshwar Madhav Deshpande. A large number of classical music aficionados from Nagpur attended the opening night.
Nityanand Haldipur opened the evening with a flute recital, beginning with Raga Marwa and showcasing intricate improvisations. He later presented a lighter Dadra composition, 'Mohe Panaghat Pe.' The performance featured Urja Bahadure on tanpura, Swapnil Bhise on tabla, and Andre Dragoy on flute.
Jayateerth Mevundi followed with a powerful Hindustani khayal performance in Raga Shuddha Kalyan, rendering the composition 'Tum Bin Kaun Khabariya Le.' He was accompanied by Urja Bahadure on tanpura, Swapnil Bhise on tabla, and Abhinay Ravandhe on harmonium. The festival concluded on Sunday with performances by Partha Bose and Devaki Pandit.
