Esteemed filmmaker and artist Muzaffar Ali is set to deliver the fourth Professor Urmi Kessar Memorial Lecture at Panjab University. Scheduled for January 16 at 11:30 am in the PU law auditorium, the lecture, titled 'Art for Peace,' will be open to the public. This annual series honors Professor Urmi Kessar, a respected scholar of fine arts and art history.
The lecture series, supported by the Professor Urmi Kessar Memorial Fund, aims to stimulate discussions on art, culture, literature, and history. It has previously featured prominent figures such as historian William Dalrymple, writer Vikram Seth, and poet Irshad Kamil, underscoring its reputation for insightful discourse.
Muzaffar Ali, celebrated for his directorial work on films like 'Gaman' and 'Umrao Jaan,' is also recognized for his contributions as a painter and cultural curator. He founded the Jahan-e-Khusrau World Sufi Music Festival and chairs the Rumi Foundation, and has been honored with the Padma Shri and the Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Award.
