John Lewis is introducing muVpix, a new vertical entertainment app developed in the U.S., set to launch in March. This platform will serve as the flagship for BlackForge Distribution, showcasing original content produced by BlackForge Partners.
The app's debut lineup includes two distinct series: the animated drama 'Whispervale,' characterized by handcrafted aesthetics and mythic storytelling, and 'Swipe Left,' a live-action thriller. 'Swipe Left' centers on a professional navigating a dating app that promises perfect AI matches, only for her suitors to meet violent ends.
Lewis emphasized that muVpix is designed to counter the notion that vertical content must be disposable, aiming instead to deliver "bold, authored, and cinematic" stories. 'Whispervale' is described as unique in its space, while 'Swipe Left' promises suspense and danger within the vertical format.
This venture represents a significant expansion for Lewis' JLE Cinema Group, which already produces four films annually. The group's recent projects include the upcoming thriller 'Cipher,' currently in post-production and starring a notable cast.
